Bletchley Park Post Office is located in the Victorian Mansion once known as 'Station X'.
It was here that the German Enigma codes were broken, and the world's first electronic computer was developed during World War 2. All in complete secrecy!
It was only when the site was threatened with demolition in the 1990's did many of its secrets start to emerge.
Bletchley Park Post Office produced its first limited edition First Day Cover to celebrate the opening of the Park to the public in 1994. The 50th anniversary of the D-Day landings. In 1999, the TV documentary, 'Station X', gave Bletchley Park the boost it needed to increase visitor numbers, and continue the battle against demolition. Feature films such as 'Enigma' and 'U-571', along with many new TV programmes and books, are also revealing Bletchley Park's secrets to the world.
The birthplace of modern communications has now been saved as an international heritage site. Bletchley Park Post Office is making significant contributions towards continuing development. The limited edition first day covers provide an inexpensive way to acquire a little piece of Britain's secret past. Either part of a cover collection, or individually framed and displayed, the combination of design, stamps and cancel captures an authentic moment in history.
Now you know our little secret we hope you enjoy the rest of the site and make use of the links provided to tell you more about Bletchley Park and our 'little pieces of art & history'.
